Changes to Our Program
We have made a couple of major changes to our programs for
2009/2010 that we believe will allow us to continue to offer more value,
consistency and reliability in the upcoming year and beyond.
First is with our annual program. We are focusing on the varieties
offered by Oro Farms. While we are focusing on the varieties offered by
Oro Farms, we have also incorporated key varieties offered by GroLink
that we believe are core components of Florida annual and perennial
programs.
The second is that we are using a 50 cell liner tray offered by Blackmore
as our primary tray. We have done a lot of propagation in this tray and
have found it to be the best all around tray for producing an excellent
liner. It has a good soil volume and depth and there is nice space
between the liners.
We continue to expand our grass and perennial programs and are doing
more geranium, mandevilla, mum, and cordyline business each year.
Additionally, our ipomea unrooted business is growing rapidly.
To facilitate this transition we will continue to offer Suntory, Dummen,
Fides and anything available by Florexpo or GroLink on a quote basis.
Also, when the tray size is a deal breaker with a customer we have done
business with in the past, we can use a 288 or 128 tray on a custom
basis. The 50 cell pricing is basically the same as our 72 cell pricing.
For this fall we will continue to offer the mandevilla and geraniums in the
72 cell tray and switch to the 50 cell the first of the year (pricing on the
72 cell is the same as the 50 cell).
